Case Study

Horticultural Trade Assoc.

Is the accident insurance company for German horticultural businesses.

Free Form Analysis of paper files in "accident processing"

700 document types, 25 document groups

Implemented with InputAccel & OS390 interfaces

Recognition rates between 66% and 100%

Architecture:

  • VisualInfo/390 archiving system on IBM OS/390
  • Since the contents and not the format of some documents differ (e.g. doctors' orders & prescriptions) the automatic recognition process had to be content based only.

Benefits:

  • Local IT staff design the recognition rules - leading to better recognition rates
  • Accident reports can be sent to accident clerks and statistical clerks simultaneously
  • Immediate access to documents therefore speedier workflow
  • Manual indexing is kept to a minimum
  • Central archiving
  • The entire system is operated without outside consultant help & therefore the company can offer document analysis as a service to smaller trade associations.

Prosar-AidaTM from Paradatec was chosen as the free form recognition engine.

The project was implemented under the leadership of IBM in 2001 and exceeded all expectations.

Prosar-Aida is an Open technology that plugs into Kofax Ascent CaptureTM and Captiva InputAccelTM to provide the world's most accurate paper recognition system.
